The theme of a faithful remnant is found frequently in the Old Testament and also carried into the New Testament. The remnant seeks after God’s presence, worships Him, and obeys His Word in the midst of spiritual apostasy and darkness. The Lord uses the remnant as a catalyst for revival.

The remnant will return, the remnant of Jacob to the Mighty God. For though your people, O Israel be as the sand of the sea, yet a remnant of them will return.

(Isaiah 10:21-22)

the lord reassured elijah of a faithful remnant

Yet I have reserved seven thousand in Israel, all whose knees have not bowed to Baal, and every mouth that has not kissed him.

the apostle paul also speaks of a new covenant remnant based upon the lord’s promise to Elijah

But what does the divine response say to him (Elijah)? “I have reserved for Myself seven thousand men who have not bowed the knee to Baal.” Even so then, at this time there is a remnant according to the election of grace. (Romans 11:4-5)
